Au pair requirements in the United States
Reminder of the criteria for au pairing in the USA :
- Must be between 18 and 26 (at time of departure)
- Driver's license (and experience!)
- Level of English required: B1/B2 minimum (oral test with our partner and exchanges in English during the meeting at the embassy)
- At least 200 hours of childcare experience (3 references will be required - outside the family circle)
- Must be available for at least 1 year (no stay of less than 1 year will be possible)
- Have obtained at least one of the following diplomas: Bac Général, Bac Professionnel, BEP or CAP
Length of stay in the United States
The process, from registration to departure as an au pair, can take between three and six months. You can leave all year round, although there is more demand from families in September and January. You can also extend your stay by 6, 9 or 12 months, without having to return to France!
