Do you have a room available and would like to host an Au Pair?
The au pair program is a cultural exchange program in which young foreigners learn English in exchange for childcare services.
It gives young people the opportunity to learn a language through courses and to visit the country through activities. The au pair is provided with accommodation, meals and laundry, and is paid for hours of childcare.
To host an Au Pair in Australia, you need to make sure you are eligible for a Working Holiday visa. This visa is valid for 12 months and allows the au pair to work with one or more families.

You must have the financial capacity to cover all program expenses (meals, pocket money, etc.).
Pocket money is a minimum of 7AUD per hour. In addition to the weekly pocket money, host families pay an end-of-stay bonus of $500 at the end of the program.
The au pair program is a cultural exchange. You must help the au pair integrate into your family and your country. The young student is there to learn the language and visit the country. That’s why you need to speak English at home, or at least with the au pair.
It is compulsory to take out health insurance for the au pair.
The au pair’s room must be at least 9 m² with a window to the outside. The door must have a lock to which the au pair has the key to ensure his or her privacy. The room must be furnished with at least one bed, a wardrobe, a table, a chair and a shelf.
The au pair cannot share a room with the children, only the bathroom.
If you don’t have an extra room for your au pair, you can provide accommodation outside your home.
A contract must be drawn up to define the terms and conditions of the stay: services to be provided, working hours, remuneration and duration. Both you and your future au pair must sign it. BUTRFLY can help you draw up the contract and legal formalities.
Au pairs work an average of 30 hours a week, spread over 6 days, and have a minimum of one day off a week.
Overtime is compensated by pocket money.
The au pair must have free time to attend language courses.
