In this article, we’ll explain the essential steps on how to become an au pair.

How does our service work?
1 - Create My Profile

I create my account for free and fill out 100% of the form on the website with photos.

2 - Butterfly approves my application

Once my profile is 100% complete, BUTRFLY approves my application to get in touch with host families.

Tip from BUTRFLY: To have a better experience and access a wider selection of host families, become a Certified Au Pair. To become a Certified Au Pair, schedule your selection interview via video conference with the BUTRFLY team.

3 - I Choose My Family

Once my application has been approved, I use the search filters to choose the families that interest me.

I can request to be contacted by the family, or the family can contact me.

To contact a Premium family, pass the certification interview and become a Certified Au Pair.

4 - I receive my contract

Two options:

  • I’m matched with a Premium host family and sign up for a BUTRFLY support package to prepare for my stay with complete peace of mind (official contract, visa application, support, and rematch).

  • I opt out of BUTRFLY’s assistance and handle all obligations and formalities with the host family on my own.

5 - I'm going to join my host family

Share all the important information about your arrival with your host family.
